A Mona Lisa de Recortes, 2003.

A Mona Lisa de Recortes foi minha primeira colagem. Fiz isso um ano depois de começar a pintar em 2003. Abriu a minha mente para a possibilidade de ser artista. A Mona Lisa é feita de pedaços de jornal com tinta acrílica. A parte quadriculada que emoldura a colagem faz parte do quadro. Aquele vidro sobre algumas rachaduras dá a impressão de que alguém jogou uma pedra no quadro porque não gostou. Achei interessante a chance disso e lembrei que Marcel Duchamp disse que na primeira vez que o "O Grande Vidro" foi exposto, ele sofreu algumas rachaduras, que no final gostou do resultado e incorporou ao trabalho. Também gostei das rachaduras da Mona Lisa de Recortes e a moldura daqui para frente vai ficar assim.

Cutout Mona Lisa was my first collage. I did it a year after I started painting in 2003. It opened my mind to the possibility of being an artist. The cutout Mona Lisa is made from pieces of newspaper using acrylic paint. The checkered part that frames the collage is part of the frame. That glass over some cracks gives the impression that someone threw a rock at the painting because they didn't like it. I found the chance of this interesting and I remembered that Duchamp said that the first time the "Big Glass" was exposed he suffered some cracks that in the end he liked the result and incorporated the work. I also liked the Mona Lisa's cracks from Cutouts and the frame from now on will look like this.
